2 Chronicles 35:10-15

2 Chronicles 35:10 is part of this passage.
10So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites by their divisions, according to the king’s commandment. 11They killed the Passover lambs, and the priests sprinkled the blood which they received from their hands, and the Levites skinned them. 12They removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the children of the people, to offer to the LORD, as it is written in the book of Moses. They did the same with the cattle. 13They roasted the Passover with fire according to the ordinance. They boiled the holy offerings in pots, in cauldrons, and in pans, and carried them quickly to all the children of the people. 14Afterward they prepared for themselves and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busy with offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night. Therefore the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests the sons of Aaron. 15The singers, the sons of Asaph, were in their place, according to the commandment of David, Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun the king’s seer; and the gatekeepers were at every gate. They didn’t need to depart from their service, because their brothers the Levites prepared for them.

Interpretation

In 2 Chronicles 35:10-15, Passover invitation gathers the humble and God heals seekers. The Chronicler wants us to see the covenant God who searches hearts, keeps His Name at the temple, and deals with kings according to whether they seek Him. Listen to the text: “So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites by their divisions, according to the king’s commandment. They killed the Passover lambs, and the priests…”

Letters invite a fractured north to return to Yahweh; mocking and humbling both appear. God heals people who set their hearts to seek Him, even with imperfect ritual readiness.

Great Passover under Josiah; then fatal refusal of God’s word through Neco—lament closes a bright reign. In Josiah's reform, the found Word drives covenant and Passover—and listening remains required. This passage belongs in that movement: 2 Chronicles 35:10-15 is not an isolated scrap but a step in God's unfolding purpose. Temple glory, royal reforms, prophetic rebukes, and exile's end all say: Yahweh's eyes search for whole hearts, and His Name still dwells with His people.

For life with God, Invite the far and the mocking; God heals humble seekers. Christ our Passover invites Jew and Gentile to one feast of grace.

If 2 Chronicles 35:10-15 feels dense—especially amid royal names, building specs, or battle reports—read it aloud slowly and ask what God is seeking. Chronicles writes for hearts that need rooted repentance and renewed worship. Let one phrase from this passage become a prayer you carry today.

As you sit with 2 Chronicles 35:10-15, ask what it shows about the God who searches hearts, keeps covenant, and dwells with His people. 2 Chronicles is living Scripture that forms repentance and hope—not a mere royal archive. Let the text steady your confidence in Yahweh's faithful care.
